Water Hackathon 2024 is a competition aimed at finding sustainable development solutions for the water sector, co-organized by The Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB), Institue of Environment and Circular Economy Sothern (IECES), and implemented by Informa Markets Vietnam.
The competition seeks to identify, refine, and develop innovative startup projects with the potential to evolve into businesses in the water sector. It aims to provide an incubation environment that supports the growth of startup ideas and projects, offering financial resources, technical support, and networking opportunities.
Objectives:
- Talent Discovery: Identify innovative startup projects with strong growth potential in the water sector.
- Incubating Ideas: Provide a supportive incubation environment for the development of ideas and startup projects.
- Comprehensive Support: Offer financial resources, technical expertise, and networking connections to help startups successfully grow.
Competition Fields:
Participating projects include ideas and technological products applied in the following areas:
- Water resource management
- Wastewater treatment
- Clean water supply
- Digital technology applications
- Education and awareness-raising
- Other unique innovations
Eligibility & Phases:
Individuals, groups, companies, and organizations with innovative ideas that promote the development of the water sector are eligible to participate.
- Solution Development: Teams will present and develop creative solutions to address issues related to the water sector.
- Project Refinement: Projects will receive support to be refined and developed, including product/service testing and improvement.
- Business Growth: Potential startup projects will receive support to grow into fully-fledged businesses, including investment capital, business guidance, and strategic partner connections.

Depending on the project’s progress at each stage of the competition, participants may receive the following benefits:
- Receive incubation packages under Resolution No. 20/2023/NQ-HĐND dated November 11, 2023, ranging from VND 40 million to VND 200 million, and have the opportunity for investment connection and consulting on establishing scientific and technological enterprises.
- Be trained, mentored, and incubated to perfect solutions, processes, technologies, business models, and products that meet the needs of the cultural industry.
- Be promoted on the organizers’ and partners’ media channels, and introduced to public and private sectors in Ho Chi Minh City.
- Receive support for co-working space at Saigon Innovation Hub.
- Participate in support programs from the Department of Science and Technology, as well as other training and networking programs.
