Hanoi: 90% of rural people have access to a centralized clean water source

Implementing Program No. 04-CTr/TU of the City Party Committee, Hanoi People’s Committee is directing the socialization of clean water supply to serve the needs of local people.

According to statistics from the Hanoi New Rural Construction Program Coordination Office, by the end of 2023, the proportion of rural people with access to centralized clean water sources will reach about 90%.

The total number of communes invested in a centralized water supply system in 2023 has increased by 15 communes compared to 2022. Specifically in districts: Soc Son: 6 communes, Ung Hoa: 5 communes, My Duc: 4 communes.

Currently, projects to develop water supply networks for rural areas are continuing to be implemented. To date, 100% of communes in districts: Gia Lam, Phu Xuyen, Me Linh, Hoai Duc, Thanh Tri and Son Tay town have been supplied with clean water.

To speed up the progress of providing clean water to rural people, Hanoi People’s Committee issued Plan No. 311/KH-UBND; which assigned the Department of Construction to preside over working with the Department of Planning and Investment, districts with communes that have not been provided with clean water, and investors.

Departments and businesses have discussed and made plans to build water supply zoning networks and proposed solutions to accelerate investment in developing water supply network systems in rural areas.

Accordingly, the Department of Construction has compiled, advised, and reported to the Hanoi People’s Committee to assign 10 units to deploy water supply to the remaining communes that do not have centralized clean water in the form of socialization. Implementation is expected to be completed in 2025 to meet the clean water needs of 100% of rural people.
